Port Jebel Ali is commercial port in Dubai Emirate (United Arab Emirates), over Persian Gulf. Built in 1976-1979 and is the bigest artificial port in the world. Together with Jebel Ali Free Zone create one of biggest industrial complex in Mid-East.

In 2007 port served 8696 vessels with total deadweight 227 894 526 tons.

Entrance channel and outer basin are dredged to 17 m (2006). Port may accomodate ships up to 545 000 DWT and with length up to 414 m.

Port Jebel Ali consist of 4 main parts:

  • Megamax Container Terminal
  • Outer basin, with 4 berths for tankers
  • North basin, for tankers and general cargo
  • South basin, for general cargo (incl. Frozen goods) and ro-ro.

Beside there is shiprepair yard with 4 places and 2 small marinas.

Port Jebel Ali is base for US Navy. For american warships Jebel Ali become most often visited port outside USA. For crew of US Navy ships Jebel Ali Recreation Center is maintained.
